Top Fold Window Card Tutorial with Tulip Bunch Dies

Autumn with you today to share an inspirational card using the fabulous Tulip Bunch die.  I adore this die because it is the perfect “bundle filler.”  What I say bundle I refer to a group of embellishments, complete with several fillers.  Usually these are flowers, ribbon, twine, and open die cuts, or as I like to call them “lacy dies.”   I really wanted to bring these tulip dies in as a focal element on this card and achieved that by layering them over the window.

I usually make 5x7” cards with a side fold.  I knew I couldn’t fit this size into my cutting machine, so I needed a top fold card, only I didn’t have any paper that was 14” long.  So I cut one 5x7” panel and another 5x7.5” panel and scored it at the .5” mark to give me an area for adhesive and mounted them together at the top/seam (see photo below).  Next, I created my inky, stenciled, mixed media background and distressed the edges.  I put a tiny piece of tape between the inked panel and the top of my card and ran both layers through the machine at once so they would line up perfectly.  I separated the pieces and then stamped my sentiment through the window onto the back of the card.  I then sandwiched a piece of vellum between my card top and inky panel, adhering all three layers as one.  I will definitely be doing this again!

For my bundle, I chose some flowers and a string bow, then tucked my die between the layers.  I cut a section off of another die cut and attached it on the opposite side.  I cut my dies from watercolor paper for stability and do not adhere my dies flat, which creates beautiful dimension.

Thank you for reading this far.  The process is quite simple, but explaining it not so simple.  Please leave me a comment if you have any questions.
