Butterfly Squash Card

Hello Everyone! Jenn here sharing my Butterfly Squash Card with you today!

If you have never heard of a squash card, it is a card that pops open and is created by making folds in your paper. There are many different tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube for these.

Tutti Designs Dies Used:
The oval shapes are perfect for this type of card to add dimension to the square shape! These are also available in other shapes!

Other supplies needed:
Adhesive foam dots
Plain cardstock (I used a kraft colored)
Collection of designer papers that coordinate
Ribbon
Scorepal and tool
Distress ink for edges
Fussy cut butterfly cutout card from designer papers (butterflies on front)

Here are the cuts you will need to do from your papers
For the base:
1 8 1/2 X 8 1/2 square (Kraft)
From your designer papers cut 6 4X4 squares and choose two to cut in half
Using the Tutti Designs Ovals cut the butterflies and two plain colors for front and inside mats.
I used black on the front and ivory inside
Once all of your papers are cut ink the edges with distress ink to add a vintage look.

To Create the base
Place kraft or other plain colored cardstock onto your scorepal and score at 4 1/4 which is the middle. Turn and do the same. Burnish on score lines. Score down the diagonal, crossing the other two score lines.
Fold the straight lines. Open and fold the top diagonal score line down. Fold the bottom diagonal in and to the right.
Finally, decorate with your designer papers previously cut. For the front and back pieces add some glue to the end of a piece of ribbon and adhere it under the papers to create a side tie.

Use adhesive foam dots to raise up the butterfly oval. Add a colored fussy cut butterfly to the front and some sentiment stickers. I also added some green pearl bling to mine.

I added some stickers to the inside as well.

Thanks so much for viewing my post and I hope you join in the fun and try this out! As mentioned above, there are many tutorials for this and many other fun fold cards on Pinterest and YouTube!
