Inspirational DIY Pop-up Easel Card Tutorial

Autumn with you today to share a pop-up card tutorial using our Nesting Stitched Circle Dies.  This beautiful and versatile set is only $12 and has unlimited possible uses.  I needed an encouragement card for a friend that she could display well after Valentine's Day, so I came up with this.

Start with a 6" top fold card.  Lightly draw a horizontal line on the top panel of your card with a pencil and line up your die in the center.  Tape it to secure.

Make a sandwich with your cutting machine, only line up the top plate with your pencil marks.  This will emboss the top half of the heart.  NOTE: The back half of the card is opened and at the top in this sandwich.  The front of the card is at the bottom, which you see.

Lightly erase your pencil markings.

With your card opened up to the inside, line up the edge of the cut circle with the the center of your paper cutter.  Score (do not cut!) on top and bottom of the circle, not the middle.

Now to cut the patterned paper layers.  Secure your die back into the cut marks and tape at the bottom.  Slide your patterned paper inside, lining up evenly, and tape the die to the patterned paper.  Remove the lower tape from your card base.

Now take just the patterned paper to the machine and cut it.

It will line up perfectly!

Repeat this process with the bottom patterned paper.  Tape at the top, then slide in the patterned paper under the die.  Then tape the die to the patterned paper at the bottom and remove the top tape.  Run the patterned paper and die through the machine.

When your card is finished it will fold flat for mailing.  I layered another stitched circle and stamped it with an encouraging scripture.  To embellish, I added my favorite Tutti Design die, Flower Orchestra Corner with some pearls and flowers.

On the inside of the card, you need something to hold the pop-up in place.  I simply cut a strip of patterned paper and layered with foam tape.  To make room for a handwritten note, I added our Nesting Stitched Squares die with a thin black mat at the top.  What fun!  I made a couple of these and will be sharing more with you soon, so stay tuned!
